I never once thought I'd be the person to write a blog. I have honestly hated reading them in the past. Take Pinterest for example: just show me the dang recipe already! BUT as it turns out, my mama is correct...as usual. She has always told me how much I loved to talk when I was little, always engaging perfect strangers in random conversation and holding them captive until I was finished with whatever story I absolutely HAD to tell. I guess some things don't change. So to start this blog off, here's my first story for you. The story of how I became a hairstylist.

I was never one to play with Barbies or dolls. I never had the urge to cut my friend's hair. I never even gave the profession a thought until my second year of college when I had zero idea of what to do when I grew up. That thought was brief and fleeting as I pressed on with finishing my year at college and finding a job when I returned home. A few years later I was working in a local private school as a receptionist and a beautiful lady always came in to pick up her small children and kept asking me to come work for her. I didn't ask her what she did for work, and though I appreciated the offer, I always declined. There came a time a few years later that I was going to be leaving the school and reached out to the lady. Turns out she was a salon owner and needed a receptionist. Timing is everything. It wasn't until I became the receptionist that the lightbulb went off. I noticed clients walking in, looking a bit sad about their hair. They'd check in, go sit in their stylist's chair and tell them allllllll the things that were wrong with their hair (and life!). Then they would receive their service and practically dance out the door with happiness. It was then that I saw the value in haircare and how a stylist can completely change the outlook or confidence of someone and decided I wanted to do that. Fast forward a few years and I completed my cosmetology apprenticeship in 2012 and became a licensed cosmetologist. I've now been in the beauty industry for over 10 years and have had the pleasure of not only being a behind the chair stylist, but also an extensions educator for Babe Hair Extensions and now a salon owner. My goal is always to provide exceptional client service that allows your best, most confidence self to radiate!

Xoxo,

Courtney
